What is the maximum speed of ADSL
From EDPnet Wiki
ATTENTION: the information underneath is merely indicative
ADSL is a technology where an electrical signal is transmitted over a (copper) telephony cable. These signals are very sensitive to attenuation and noise. These will influence the speed of your DSL connection, and manifest themselves in several causes:
- The distance of your point of connection up to the local Belgacom Exchange ;
- The quality of your internal cabling;
- The quality of the physical line (thickness, age, insulation, ...);
- The type of telephony subscription (PSTN, ISDN or raw copper).
Even though all these factors have a strong influence, the distance of your connection will be the main indicator of the maximum speed your connection will be able to achieve. For this reason, we urge you not to take the tables below too literally. For the reasons mentioned above, we can't possibly guarantee any of the speeds below.
| distance | ADSL Starter | ADSL Home/Office |
| up to 1000 m | 4 Mbps | 24 Mbps (*) |
| up to 1500 m | 4 Mbps | 15 Mbps (**) |
| up to 2500 m | 4 Mbps | 10 Mbps |
| up to 3000 m | 4 Mbps | 6 Mbps |
| up to 4300 m | 4 Mbps | 4 Mbps |
| up to 5500 m | 3 Mbps | 3 Mbps |
| up to 6000 m | 2 Mbps | 2 Mbps |
| up to 6250 m | 1 Mbps | 1 Mbps |
(*) Depends on the network; up to 1000 m on Bruo, up to 150 m on Broba.
